I’m still trying to figure out this whole blog thing. Just stick with me while I figure it out. Before you know it I will be posting all kinds of neat and interesting things.

To any new comers to brevard I would say to always check sakai for any new assignments your professors post. Always show up to class just a few minutes early and be prepared for class. Turn in all assignments on time and if your not sure if you are supposed to turn something in then don’t be afraid to ask. If you have any questions outside of class the library is always open and your professors usually respond fairly quickly to email. It is very easy to pass your classes at brevard but it is also very easy to fail. Weather you pass or fail is entirely up to you
A game warden sometimes called wildlife officers are police officers that are mainly tasked with protecting wildlife from illegal hunters. A game warden can do just about everything a ordinary police officer can do. The focus more on the outdoors and all that goes on in the woods. While on the job they can do patrols on any form of transportation from ATV’S to airplanes. They manage game populations, hunt down illegal animal traffickers and poachers. If caught be a game warden doing any of those thing they have the right to charge you and will make sure you receive the full extent of the law
Axes are one of mans oldest hand tools. With axes man has built massive civilizations that have stood the test of time. Axes come in many different shapes and forms and can be used in almost any job. The different forms of axe heads serve different purposes. The double bit axe head for example was and still is used in logging. One side of the double bit was kept sharper then the other and is used to chop at the inner wood of the tree in order to fell it. The other side of the axe head is kept a little dull and is used to chop through the bark of the tree and cut at any roots that may need cutting.
The mandalorian is a part of the star wars collection that was just recently released on disney plus. Since it release it has been super popular with memes flooding the internet about the show. The baby yoda on the show has taken the internet by storm with people loosing their minds about how cute it is. If you haven’t seen the show yet I apologize because I will be spoiling some of the show. The show takes place after the fall of the imperial empire with warlords controlling different parts of the galaxy. The mandalorian is tasked with bring in a bounty on the baby yoda and ends up going against the warlord and fighting to protect the baby yoda. If you haven’t seen the show I highly recommend watching it.
Deer season starts on September 7th in North Carolina and ends on January 1st. If you have your hunting license then you go and purchase your tags at Walmart. You are given seven tags total. Two buck tags and five doe tags along with one black bear tag. Deer season is split up into three’s starting with archery season. At the end of archery season begins black powder season which leads into rifle season. Once you kill a deer you call it in using the phone number on your tag. When you finish calling your kill in you then can begin processing. You can take your deer to a processor or you can skin it yourself. Processing your deer yourself makes you have more respect for your kill.
Clubs have been used in warfare since the beginning of human history. They can be found in every culture and have many different forms. A club can be made out of anything, in north america they were commonly made out of hardwood and some had stone heads. An example of a club from north america would be the gun stock war club. The Celtic peoples from the British isles had wooden club with metal bands wrapped around the top for added weight when swung. From the Celtic war club came the mace, which was used well into world war 1 in the trenches. Although clubs are not as popular in today’s world forms of clubs can be seen still being used by law enforcement as a form of non lethal weaponry called collapsible batons.
Black powder season starts in the northwestern part of North Carolina on November 9th. That is when it becomes legal for deer hunter to use black powder rifles to hunt. When hunting with black powder rifles ( muzzle loaders) you usually only get one shot. Hunters usually carry a reload bag with them because of this. Muzzle loaders are fairly difficult to load so your shot will not be quick. You have to measure your power (charge) place your wad and then set your round on top of that and use your ramrod to pack it all down. After all that you then prim your rifle and your ready to fire.
A area that was infamous for criminal activity in the nineteenth century. Located in manhattan the five points was home for some of the united stated most notorious street gangs. Known mainly for fighting the gangs could be hired for only twenty-five dollars to stab whoever the intended victim might have been. The most well known games were the dead rabbits, the bowery boys and the whyos. The dead rabbits was a predominantly irish gang who fought brutally against natives ( people who were born citizens) in defense of irish immigrants during the time of the know nothings. The bowery boys were made up of mostly natives. They were strongly anti-catholic and anti-immigrant and were known to fight those that disagreeded with them. The whyos gang were accepting of only the most violent of people. It is said that in order to become a full whyo that you had to commit murder. The gangs sometimes joined forces in order to riot the civil war drafts. The movie gangs of new york was based off of a two day street brawl between the dead rabbits and the natives.
In this blog i will talk about certain types of weapons and old violent street gangs that were known for their brutality. Some of the things i will talk about might be seen as offensive. This blog post is my apology in advance. I will try to keep what i write about as civil as possible but some thing will be inherently gruesome. There are some tools i will be taking about that will have a disturbing use and serve a very violent purpose. My reasoning behind writing about these thing is mainly for the historical aspect of them. It is to show that as time has progressed and technology has gotten more advanced, that people have found more humane ways to take life. I say this awful truth because no matter what there will always be those who seek to do harm. By knowing what was used in the past and in the present day you can adequately prepare. That way if you ever find yourself in a situation where you are being threatened you will have some of the knowledge needed to defend yourself. Being knowledgeable of what to defend against you have a good start in the never ending path of self protection.
The most decorated soldier in United States military history. Served in WW2 and earning the medal of honor at the age of 19 for single handedly holding off a german company and whilst being wounded and then rejoining his men and leading them in an attack on the germans. For his actions in the fight against the enemy in WW2 murphy was awarded every U.S. military combat medal. After the war murphy split up his time between the Texas army national guard and being an actor at MGM studios. While working for the Texas army national guard his primary job was to train recruits for combat in Korea. As an actor for MGM murphy was the star of a few movies, his first one being ‘Bad boy’ in 1949. All In all Audie murphy led a heroic and interesting but troubled life. Because of his experiences during the war murphy struggled with post traumatic stress disorder and pushed the government to help korean and vietnam war veterans upon their return to the states. In 1971 murphy lost his life in a plane crash in catawba virginia. Audie murphy was buried in Arlington cemetery with full military honors and his grave site can still be seen there today. Five months after his death a hospital was named in is honor because of his drive to help soldiers fighting with PTSD.
